It’s been pretty quite around here, and rightfully so because I’m going through the nesting stage. At 25 weeks I want the entire house cleaned with a q-tip and am making sweaters and a blanket in preparation.  I think I forgot to mention to everyone I’m a knitter…5 years strong!

It’s so cute I just had to share the jacket.I love contrast so I used a navy blue broken up with a white stripe and wooden buttons. Hopefully baby Heim will be able to use it at the end of winter!

Meet Mrs Lisa, she’s helping out by being a boudoir model, and in return has a great gift for her husband. Lisa was very easy going and I’d love to work with her again. Thanks to her patience with my cats, dog, and my indecisiveness at times we came out with great images!

Last week when I announced on Facebook about winning a contest, it was done thanks to Robyn at the Paperie. The contest was winning 5 CD/DVD holders of my choice. Wanting to move to digital this place was the perfect fit. I found four different beautiful styles and they arrived just this week! When I first opened the box, and until now, I am very impressed with this product. They are all so durable and the craftsmanship is wonderful. Two styles will be offered for digital packages. I’m still having some trouble choosing which one as they all are so great!

A little about the company:

Loktah is inspired by the natural beauty of the earth, featuring products that recall the planet’s majestic form.

The company’s essential element is the organic paper, a renewable source in the foothills of the Himalayas. Each product is dipped in bee’s wax to preserve the quality of the paper yet allow the product to age with natural beauty.Soft twine encircles the product with an organic bead completing the look. Created by hand, each case is slightly unique. The mystery and beauty of the Himalayan region offers inspiration like no other place on earth.

As some of you know I am already halfway through the pregnancy. With the pregnancy going by quickly, the last day to book will be September 15th.  Although baby Heiminator is expected on Thanksgiving it’s always hard to tell when nature will decide he’s ready, so I am giving myself enough time in case he decides to come early.

If some of you missed the facebook announcement- It’s a boy! :)

If  you’re one of the many on Facebook in Sioux City you may have gotten a friend request from an English man trying to make it in the US gathering support.

I opened my email this morning and saw a post on my wall.  He (even if it was only a few seconds to copy and paste) posted his schedule for both Sioux City, a little bio information on him so we get some background, and where we can find him. Lastly, he was open to getting to know locals, and supporting their businesses as well. I thought, “Hey, that’s cool.”

Immediately I started thinking of reasons not to go. I’m almost six months pregnant…I’m hot, it’s a pain wearing uncomfortable clothing, and it’s ALWAYS my luck for someone to sit in front of me and I can’t see the show…here I am painting negative experience before making a conscious decision!

Another thought hits me…it’s almost ten minutes later and I’m still debating to myself whether to go or not. Why?!

That’s because he did something different. He connected with ME.  I could learn something from this guy, Fox Brookdale.  He (even if it was a copy and paste taking a few seconds) posted on MY wall. I didn’t have to wait for a new status update, ask questions, or search for information. That’s great. What’s even better, and great for him? Although I’m still debating whether to go to the show, he has my attention now.  Fox stood out from the numerous bands I see by posting on my wall…

This may not seem like much but when compared to a lot of businesses, including mine, we wait for the customer to come to us. It’s great to see someone taking the initiative to grab the audiences attention providing all the information I need to know, and reaching a different market with coffee houses/ other target customers than playing for the bar..hmmm…I’ll leave it be tonight.

Fox- I’m listening.

Some of you may remember earlier this year I was looking for senior models. Meet Nicole! She is going to help spread the word in Sioux City about Ashley Heim Photography. She’s quirky and likes to have fun. It was an easy going shoot aside from the bugs. Even the park personnel was very nice and let us do our thing as he refilled the fountain.  Here’s a few of my favorite images from yesterdays session. The last image is a fur lined coat. When she brought that I couldn’t resist despite being in July!!!

A big thanks goes to Nicole, Trudi, and Misty!
